Seafish
Standard Designs for Purification Systems
Seafish
have developed 5 guides to standard designs for purification
systems and additional guidance for developing non standard
systems. While operators are at liberty to develop their own
systems for purifying bivalves, it is likely that such 'DIY'
systems will require much more testing before they are able
to be successfully challenge tested by the licensing authorities.
The
standard models described in the Seafish guides have been extensively
tested and used by industry and are a proven technology. There
are a number of UK suppliers of the equipment needed to install
these systems. Seafish does not approve installations, this
is carried out by a Local Authority after challenge testing
by an FSA appointed contractor. Seafish is able to act as an
independent adviser to businesses seeking to install , modify
or improve a purification installation.
