Qualification
Purpose
This
qualification is designed for learners who are working in the
fish and shellfish retail sector. It offers learners the opportunity
to develop knowledge and skills in basic fishmonger skills. The
knowledge and skills are delivered during face to face training
and through print, DVD and online resources. The nationally recognised
VRQ qualification is awarded following the completion of an approved
course of theory and practical training.
This
award comprises of three mandatory units and two other units drawn
from a choice of three. To achieve the full Award, learners must
achieve at least 10 credits, from these units:

Only two of the three skills units are needed to complete the
VRQ
This
qualification can be achieved by attending a programme of training
courses and demonstrating skills and understanding as appropriative.
The
unit, Principles of the Fishmonger Industry provides for a basic
understanding how the seafood industry operates and the key regulations
that impact of small seafood retail operations.
