Background
The
Route Map
lists the training programmes and materials that the seafood
processing sector requires to be developed and prioritises their
development over the next three years. These requirements have
been identified from information provided by seafood employers
through discussions, meetings of the Seafood Processors’ Training
Advisory Group and research carried out by Group Training Associations.
By publicising
the route map we hope to engage more industry members in the
process of identifying, developing and using these new training
programmes and materials.
We
also hope to encourage more industry members to tell us what
their training needs are and what they would like Improve,
Seafish and the Seafood Training Academy to do to meet those
needs.
As
we get more feedback from industry we will revise and expand
the Route Map so that it continues to provide a three year view
on what new training developments are being undertaken and what
is planned.
The Route Map
The
Route Map is usually depicted as a Map (see
link) for discussion purposes. As you can see from the attached
image there are a range of proposals that are being considered
and a few that have been approved for active development.
If
you want to find out more about any aspect of the Route Map
or the more
detailed proposals that underpin it then please contact
Lee Cooper at Seafish (01482 327837 or email academy@seafish.co.uk)
The
Route Map currently focuses on the seafood processing sector,
food safety and health & safety. As we get more feedback
from other onshore sectors we can incorporate other sector specific
proposals into this map.
How can Industry get involved?
There
are four ways that individuals and businesses in the seafood
industry can get involved.
1.
Contribute your expertise. If you have expertise in one of the
programme areas that is being developed and would like to assist
or comment on content then please get in touch. We are always
looking for expert input and advice from those who are active
in the seafood industry. See the list of Active
Developments
for more information.
2.
Become involved in making decisions about training programme
developments. Our Training Advisory Group draws representatives
from employers in the seafood industry and helps Seafish to
make decisions on future training related developments. If you
are interested in becoming a member then find out more from
the Seafish
B2B site.
3.
Provide Feedback on the Route Map. We’d like to hear
from you if you have a suggestion for a programme to include
on the Route Map or have a comment on the Map as it currently
stands. The Route Map is formally reviewed three times a year
and there is every opportunity for a worthwhile suggestion to
be incorporated onto the Route Map.
4.
Use the programmes that are developed. If you look closely at
the Map you will see that several of the programmes have already
been developed and are generally available or are being piloted.
If you are interested you can start to use these programmes
now. The list of completed developments will grow as programmes
are completed. To see what programmes are newly available and
what progress is being made with the others, consult the Progress
Report on the Seafish B2B site.
